Pont de Mangere

  • Botticelli 8 Anzac Street Auckland, Auckland, 0622 New Zealand (map)

Pont de Mangere is an Auckland based ensemble with a flair for elegant and tasteful jazz.

* Carmel McGill Wright, vocals - her versatile vocal repertoire spans many genres - pop, opera and musical theatre, but principally jazz, drawing on Ella Fitzgerald and Duke Ellington as influences. When Carmel sings, the room swings!
* Chris Artley, piano - an acclaimed and published composer, with over 20 international awards for classical choral works, many of them influenced by his love of jazz. Chris combines the elegance of classical music with the exotic palette of jazz in his unique playing.
* Glyn Acraman, drums - with a drum career spanning many decades and styles, and gigs with both international and NZ artists like Pat Boone and Tina Cross, Glyn’s masterful pulse is the heartbeat of many NZ rock bands, big bands and jazz ensembles.
* Guy Halpe, bass - a background in classical violin and viola with orchestras gives Guy a unique style of bass playing. He has accompanied many international jazz musicians (Martin Taylor, Eberhard Weber and Jan Garbarek, the Dutch Swing College Band, Doron Johnson) and many NZ jazz artists.
